One of the top four most profitable malls in North America with annual sales surpassing $2 billion, Yorkdale Shopping Centre is prestigious and expansive, boasting more than 250 stores and a wide range of dining options, from restaurants and cafes to food courts.
In concert with Yorkdale’s recent revitalization and expansion, KDA designed a thoughtful, contemporary and fashionable signage program that addresses the wayfinding needs of 18 million visitors annually.
Importantly, the overall signage master plan was developed with the understanding that as Yorkdale Shopping Centre continues to progress through dramatic urban intensification the program can readily expand in scope and easily adapt to change.

Wayfinding Designations
KDA created a system of colour-coded Alpha designations to identify both vehicular and pedestrian access points to the property. The Alpha designations create separate and memorable ‘zones’ within the property and greatly improve customer wayfinding.
Technology Enhances Customer Experience
Notable to the success of the program, was the implementation of a property-wide, technology-driven parking guidance system which greatly improved the overall customer experience by guiding shoppers to available parking spots throughout several multi-level garages in a convenient and stress-free manner.

Texture and Tone
A distinctive theme of textured, seemingly random dot patterns are presented throughout the signage program to support the sophisticated character, tone and attitude of Yorkdale’s brand.
