Fort Erie
Town of Fort Erie, Fort Erie
Home to nearly 34,000 residents, Fort Erie is celebrated for its relaxed community atmosphere, natural beauty, and strong tourism appeal. With its lakefront setting, extensive trail systems, and vibrant local districts, the town attracts both residents and visitors who value recreation, culture, and a welcoming small-town spirit.
KDA developed a comprehensive wayfinding program that unifies Fort Erie’s diverse destinations while making exploration seamless for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Complementing the signage, KDA created bespoke sub-brands for the town’s Business Improvement Areas (BIAs), each reflecting its distinct identity while functioning cohesively within the system. This dual focus on wayfinding and branding links parks, trails, tourism, and districts, encourages discovery, fosters civic pride, and reinforces Fort Erie’s vibrant character.
The Town of Fort Erie Team found KDA to be very engaging in that they were able to draw out our thoughts and translate them into ideas worth pursuing. They are creative and practical in their knowledge.
Distinct Districts, United Identity
In tandem with its wayfinding program, KDA crafted bespoke brands for Fort Erie’s unique districts. Each identity highlights the distinct character of its community, while together forming a cohesive visual language. The result strengthens continuity across BIAs, fosters civic pride, and creates memorable touchpoints for both residents and visitors.
KDA integrated navigation, placemaking, and identity-building into a unified program that supports recreation, culture, tourism, safety, and economic development for the Town of Fort Erie.
Connecting Districts, Parks, & Trails
KDA’s signage program enhanced wayfinding, strengthened the visitor experience, and visually unified Fort Erie’s diverse districts under a cohesive system. The program established a clear hierarchy, including highway and Ontario regional signs, gateway and welcome signage, park and trail markers, vehicular and pedestrian directional signs, information and map boards, and district identity signage.
