The Ritz-Carlton
GRAYWOOD DEVELOPMENTS, TORONTO
Overlooking Lake Ontario and the downtown Toronto skyline, The Ritz-Carlton property includes a AAA Five-Diamond hotel featuring 263 luxurious rooms, an 8,000-square-foot ballroom, meeting rooms and a 25,000-square-foot spa, as well as a luxury condominium residence occupying its top floors.
In consultation with the renowned architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox, KDA was retained by Graywood Developments to conceptualize and create an exterior and interior signage and wayfinding system tailored to the unique character of this contemporary hotel and condominium residence.
The exterior signage program is highlighted by a distinctive monument that serves as a significant focal point. Showcasing an illuminated presentation of the hotel’s iconic logo, it is seamlessly positioned at the entrance of the porte-cochère. This design element enhances the aesthetic appeal of the hotel’s exterior and serves as a prominent and easily recognizable landmark for guests and visitors alike.
To complement the interior spaces of both the hotel and residences, KDA ensured the signage reflected its modern design language. A key design objective was to refresh and reinterpret the brand standards of The Ritz-Carlton to suit the forward looking architectural design.
ELEVATED ARRIVAL EXPERIENCE
Conceived by KDA, the dramatic cantilevered canopy was designed to create a more elevated arrival experience and to prominently display the hotel’s name to the street. Incorporated into the canopy’s design are colour-changing LEDs that can be programmed to mirror special events, occasions, and the changing seasons, adding an element of adaptability and vibrancy to the hotel’s external aesthetic.
Urban
Retreat
Through the use of refined materials, finishes and a well-chosen colour palette, KDA captured the brand essence of this five-star hotel and spa.
