The Richmond-Adelaide Centre is a thriving five-building ecosystem in the heart of the financial district. This dynamic 2.5 million square foot complex features upscale retail, dining options, parking, PATH connections, as well as significant heritage assets. As the headquarters of Toronto’s Stock Exchange, the Richmond-Adelaide Centre stands as a significant Toronto landmark, symbolizing the city’s thriving business environment and contributing to its dynamic urban landscape.
KDA was retained by Oxford to develop an overall program for the individual blocks of the campus in phases, while creating a strategy that could be expanded to result in a cohesive, branded community.
In addition to developing a branding system, KDA created an exterior and interior signage master plan for the common areas, office towers, parking, retail, and heritage interpretation; as well as public art signage to commemorate features in 85 Richmond and 100 Adelaide.
KDA worked closely with WZMH Architects and KPF Architects to carefully integrate the signage within the architectural program, as well as integrating the program within the 14-storey Art Deco concourse building.
UNIFIED BRANDING SYSTEM
KDA devised a branding system for the complex, leveraging orange as a primary colour feature for all five towers. This system incorporates the building addresses of 85 Richmond, 111 Richmond, 100 Adelaide, 120 Adelaide, and 130 Adelaide, under the umbrella brand of Richmond-Adelaide Centre. By utilizing the colour orange with these distinct addresses, KDA unified the community identity while maintaining individual building recognition.
KDA also developed the branding and signage program for the ‘courtyard’ – an inviting outdoor communal amenity space.
DYNAMIC DIGITAL MEDIA PROGRAM
KDA created a dynamic digital media network, strategically enhancing the Richmond-Adelaide Centre’s offerings. With the introduction of a revenue-generating program within the retail PATH connection at concourse level, as well as integrated, interactive digital directories in all five towers, the digital media network serves as a powerful tool for enhancing visitor experience, facilitating wayfinding, and promoting engagement.
This innovative network not only generates additional revenue streams for the Centre but also reinforces its status as a modern, forward-thinking hub in Toronto’s bustling financial district. By seamlessly integrating digital technology into the physical infrastructure, the Richmond-Adelaide Centre demonstrates its commitment to providing cutting-edge amenities and services, ultimately enriching the experience for tenants, visitors, and the surrounding community.

EXPERTISE IN MULTI-LEVEL PARKING SIGNAGE
KDA extended its expertise to the underground parking facilities at Richmond-Adelaide Centre. A fully coordinated multi-level parking signage program was carefully developed to seamlessly connect the buildings and guide visitors to their desired destinations.
By implementing clear and concise directional signage, KDA ensured effortless navigation throughout the parking facility, enhancing accessibility and convenience for tenants and visitors alike. This strategic approach not only reinforces the cohesive identity of the Richmond-Adelaide Centre but also prioritizes user experience, making every interaction with the space intuitive and efficient.
