Mohawk College is a leading applied arts and technology institution known for its forward-thinking programs and commitment to student success. Centered around its Fennell Campus, the College has undergone significant renewal and expansion, creating a dynamic learning environment anchored by a central student hub that connects academic buildings, services, and campus amenities.
KDA was retained to develop and implement a comprehensive signage and wayfinding master plan to support the transformation and integrate Mohawk College’s new brand identity. Through stakeholder workshops and engagement with faculty, students, operations, and campus groups, KDA identified key navigation challenges and user needs across the evolving campus.
In response, KDA designed a cohesive wayfinding system that simplifies movement through the central hub and beyond, clearly identifying buildings by name and letter and reinforcing intuitive decision-making at key points.
The program improves accessibility for pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicular traffic, while establishing a strong, unified campus identity.
Brand Landmark
KDA designed a large, freestanding Mohawk College brand sign that serves as a bold visual identifier for the campus. Beyond marking the College’s presence, the sign has become a central gathering spot for students and visitors, creating countless memorable, “Instagrammable” moments that reinforce campus identity, pride, and social media visibility.
Campus Integration
Signage across the campus had been introduced over time through multiple phases, resulting in a collection of inconsistent sign types, styles, and messaging. In response, KDA developed a cohesive wayfinding system to unify all campus environments and establish a clear, recognizable identity.
The program introduced highly visible entrance markers, a distinct parking identification system, and a coordinated suite of interior and exterior signage that improves clarity, accessibility, and overall campus navigation. All elements were designed to seamlessly integrate Mohawk College’s new brand while supporting intuitive movement throughout the campus.
KDA’s signage and wayfinding program for Mohawk College unifies the campus, enhances navigation, and establishes a clear, enduring identity through a flexible framework that supports future growth.

KDA led stakeholder consultation sessions to develop and design donor and alumni recognition programs that celebrate generosity and achievement. Wampum Belt
KDA led the design and development of a culturally significant interpretive Wampum Belt Wall. Recognizing the profound influence of Indigenous cultures within the college community, this installation serves as a powerful symbol of unity, resilience, and shared understanding.
