Mississauaga Transitway

City of Mississauga, Mississauga

The Mississauga Transitway is a key rapid bus corridor within the City of Mississauga, supporting efficient east–west travel across the city. Spanning 18 kilometres and 12 stations, the Transitway plays a critical role in connecting residents, workers, and visitors to MiWay services and to the broader regional transit network.

KDA designed the comprehensive signage and wayfinding master plan for the City Centre Transit Terminal and the Mississauga Transitway stations, delivering a fully integrated interior and exterior system across the 18-kilometre corridor. The scope included system-wide strategy, sign typologies, visual language, implementation guidelines, and detailed technical drawings to tender and guide fabrication and installation, ensuring consistency across all stations and corridors. The result is a clear, user-focused wayfinding system that enhances the transit experience and supports seamless navigation across municipal and regional networks.

Clarity through Design

The system is designed to improve visibility, legibility, accessibility, and operational efficiency across stations, many of which have separate eastbound and westbound entrances. Station Beacons identify station locations from a distance and distinguish entrance directions, while Marker Signs provide route, schedule, and platform information visible from multiple directions. Pedestrian Directional signs guide users to transit services, bike facilities, key destinations, and connections, with walking times shown at decision points.
