160 Front

Cadillac Fairview, Toronto

160 Front is an iconic mixed-use, LEED Platinum office tower near Union Station, designed by the acclaimed Chicago-based firm AS+GG. Rising 47 stories, the building offers 1.2 million square feet of premium office space with a distinctive asymmetrical form crafted from glass and steel.

The building’s podium integrates a restored heritage structure on Front Street, a restaurant facing Simcoe Street, and a concourse connecting to Toronto’s PATH system. Below grade, the building offers parking and bike facilities with end-of-trip amenities.

KDA was responsible for the project branding, including exterior and interior signage, wayfinding, and a unique digital roof beacon that seamlessly integrates with the building’s façade. The beacon is synchronized with architectural lighting and displays dynamic content, including brand messaging for anchor tenant TD Bank, as well as national and local community messages—creating a personalized, interactive experience for visitors and tenants.

The design work not only reinforces the building’s modern identity but also enhances its functionality, creating a cohesive environment that supports both its aesthetic and operational needs.

Branding the Address

KDA designed the brandmark for 160 Front to reflect the building’s contemporary, curved and angular architectural approach. The custom brandmark is deceptively simple—eschewing traditional sans-serif lettering in favour of a triangular form that echoes the building’s structure and architectural intent. The use of “160” in the brand reinforces its dual role as both a distinctive visual identity and a clear address, enhancing wayfinding and making the building easily identifiable from the street.

KDA’s approach to the wayfinding program is minimalist and typographically precise, ensuring a cohesive and intuitive experience throughout the building.

Sleek Materials

The design of the signage complements the building’s angular, contemporary architecture, with sleek, high-contrast materials that echo the tower’s bold aesthetic. Inside, the use of contrasting black and white stone finishes is mirrored in the signage, with subtle green branding nods to TD Bank.

intuitive navigation

KDA designed a comprehensive signage system for 160 Front’s underground parking facility. The program provides intuitive navigation for vehicles and bicycles, while also guiding pedestrians safely and efficiently to the elevators. This strategic approach enhances the overall parking experience, meeting the elevated standards required for a building of this significance.
