130 QQE
Daniels, Toronto
Daniels Waterfront is a groundbreaking 1,320,000 square foot development located within Toronto’s East Bayfront area. Designed to foster relaxed, extroverted and approachable engagements, it’s an exciting ‘live-work-play-learn-create’ mixed-use community.
130 QQE is a dynamic destination within this sweeping development that features condo-based offices, exceptional retail, and arts-enriched amenities. This sought-after location is now home to Launchpad, HXOUSE, The Remix Project, Artscape, and OCAD University.
With strategic intent, KDA formulated a cohesive master plan for 130 QQE, delivering a distinctive solution that provides effective identification and wayfinding, resonating with the overall thriving district. The plan’s materiality and scale have been carefully planned to ensure the exterior and interior signage components reflect the design’s aesthetic vision while providing expert navigation for the two towers, shared spaces, amenities, retail zones, and underground parking facilities.
KDA undertook the creation of 130 QQE’s edgy and vibrant brand logo. This distinctive logo contributes to the project’s overall identity, reflecting its energetic and lively character.

Distinguishing the Towers
KDA designed eye-catching signage that showcased a dramatically-scaled ‘W’ for the West Tower and ‘E’ for the East Tower, playfully identifying the two separate, yet interconnected towers.

Curated Colour Palette
KDA’s 130 QQE signage program consists of a palette of materials that utilize warm copper and bronze finishes and anodized aluminum custom-cladding to integrate with the overall architectural design.

3D Digital Printing – An Innovative Approach
KDA’s exterior signage plan included the integration of a substantial, sculptural rendition of the 130 QQE brand as a feature element within the entrance canopy. Recognizing the intricate geometry of the design, KDA adopted an innovative approach to fabricating the brand from resin using 3D printing technology —a pioneering example of crafting an outdoor brand sign in this manner.

Creating the Brands
As a component of its strategy, KDA proposed the idea of utilizing the physical address itself as the central element of the project’s branding. Employing ‘130QQE’ as an abbreviation for ‘130 Queens Quay East,’ KDA developed a modern brand narrative that easily conveys the project’s laid-back attitude. The closely knit placement of QQE enhances the interconnected nature of the development.
KDA also created a complementary brand for The Yard – an important public gathering space inspired by London’s trendy Brick Lane neighbourhood.
